It’s sneak peek time! It’s been a long time coming indeed, but now, we finally get to see what we can expect in that new Star Wars MMORPG that BioWare’s cooking up. They’ve finally released the first batch of screens for Star Wars: The Old Republic - and they’re huge! Better wait for the full page to load up before clicking those pics!

We got light sabers and Force action right here. It’s all impressive, to say the least. The environments you see in the screens below were taken from two different planets: Tython and Korriban. Now I wanna be a Jedi again. No wait, I wanna be a Sith! Or… a wookie? *gurrggggle*

EVE Evolved: Exploring New Eden

37e44_explore-title EVE Evolved: Exploring New Eden

A common theme in popular MMOs today is the idea of exploration. For a surprisingly large number of players, their reason for playing an MMO is to experience new content and explore new lands. Each new MMO or expansion becomes a new country to explore with its own set of features and game mechanics. Limits such as levels, raid progression and quest chains are used to ensure we don’t burn through all the game’s content too quickly.

New Eden:
EVE Online is set in the expansive universe of New Eden. This nebular stellar nursery contains thousands of stars, of which approximately 5000 have been explored and added to the game’s stargate network. Even though EVE doesn’t have level limits, it does have a familiar approach to exploring content. Some content such as difficult complexes (space dungeons) will not be completable solo and other content like level 4 missions will be so difficult as to require large ships with a lot of skills behind them. The majority of the universe, however, is free to explore from day one and there’s a lot to explore.

In this visual article, I explore some of the stunning content of EVE Online and take a brief look at what the future holds for explorers in New Eden.

4c267_ale1 Addon Spotlight: Atlasloot Enhanced updated for WrathThat’s right, Atlasloot Enhanced has been updated to include the Northrend instances and raid. Personally, I’ve been waiting to be able to browse and try-on the gear from the new dungeons and raids since the expansion launched.

Atlasloot Enhanced is absolutely one of my must-have addons, and I’ve watched it grow with loving admiration since the day I realized I could see what my toons looked liked wearing Sunken Temple loot.

For those of you not using this one, it’s a wonderful way to spend your time while waiting for your groups to get situated, double check drop rates on certain items, or even link items from your wish list for typically uninterested group-mates. (Go ahead and take advantage of the captive audience.)

Although we’ve featured this one before, Atlasloot Enhanced has some great features for the curious player, and in light of all the new content, I thought we’d review some of the reasons to install and use this very useful mod.

f8d0a_az_dariomodawn Ask a Lore Nerd: The heads and tails of the HordeWelcome to Ask a Lore Nerd, where each week blogger and columnist Alex Ziebart answers your questions about the lore and history of the World of Warcraft. Ask your questions in the comments section below, and we’ll try to answer it in a future edition.

This week on Ask a Lore Nerd, we’re only answering a small number of questions, because they’re really good ones and I want to dork out over them a little. Let’s get started, shall we?

Mornash
asked…

Speaking of Garrosh Hellscream, what do you think Blizzard has in store for us with his story. They’re portraying him like his father was, a bloodthirsty, arrogant, loose cannon. Are they going to have him repeat past mistakes? Maybe bring about another downfall? Or will Saurfang and Thrall get through to him and have him ultimately become a hero?

Welcome back to The Queue, WoW Insider’s daily Q&A column where the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft.

Just a few questions today, because slow weekends are slow. Who wants to ask questions when you can be playing? Certainly not me. I will still answer questions, however. Let’s jump right in with ender’s question…

What, in your own opinion, is the easiest faction to start to grind on for rep as a new level 80? I know there is the “championing” but with dailies etc, what seems to be the easiest?

e72ec_225_wowscrnshot_112908_165947 A Death Knights first dungeon: Dos and donts, part oneSince day one of Wrath of the Lich King, people have been rolling Death Knights. While many seem to be getting along just great, many others are in need of guidance.

This will be a two-part article, and will focus on the things that you will need to know when working with others in a dungeon setting.

Today, I will be discussing the basic things that any meleer should know when entering a dungeon.

Many Death Knights have never had a melee character, and may not know how to avoid aggro while dealing high damage and staying out of the tank’s way.

In part two, I will discuss your AoE abilities and their place in a dungeon setting, as well as covering the buttons you should never, ever push while in an instance.

I will also run down some very basic rule of thumbs for your gear and talents, as well as including a discussion about some of the group-oriented talents that you could acquire.

Around Azeroth: Into the mystic

Frequent submitter Ben has sent us this lovely screenshot of … of … I’m not exactly sure what this is of. It appears to be a picture of someone flying a drake down a laundry chute decorated with runes. The drake also seems to be suffering from an acute case of Lightning Wing and Green Flatulence. I’m not too far into the Wrath content though, having devoted a lot of my time lately to getting the Ambassador title, so maybe this is one of those things that everyone knows about but me.

Do you have any unusual World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We’d love to see it on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wowinsider.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!

Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word “Azeroth” in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing — use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, “mounted mounts”, or pictures of the Ninja Turtles in Dalaran

I'm Rich! from Dark Legacy Comics. It is once again, Sunday morning. While you Americans are probably still munching on turkey and pawing through the fruits of your Black Friday labors, I put up my Christmas tree and toasted myself a bagel. It isn’t quite the same, of course, but it also gave me time to compose this week’s list of hilarity and adventure.
